The lsb_release command displays LSB (Linux Standard Base) information about your specific Linux distribution.

Display all information:

lsb_release -a

Output example:

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:    Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
Release:    18.04
Codename:   bionic

Display the codename of the current operating system:

lsb_release -c

Output (ubuntu 18.04):

Codename:   bionic

Show shoter result:

lsb_release -cs

Other options:

lsb_release -i # ID of Linux distributor
lsb_release -d # description of Linux distribution
